I’m about to celebrate 35 years of living with type 1 diabetes. Every now and then I take a deep breath and reflect on what it’s been like to have this disease that allows for zero vacations. It’s not been an easy road. That said, there are a few bright spots.

I’ve had type 1 diabetes for almost 35 years and I’ve worn an insulin pump for about 22 years. I’ve been wearing a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor (cgm) for just about two years non-stop. (I love it!)
