I was out walking this morning, as today is the New Moon in Capricorn, and as I approached the majestic Mississippi River, a powerful, graceful eagle soared on a wind gust feet in front of me. I made the instant decision to not pull out my phone to snap a photo and instead to breathe deeply and enjoy the gift of Eagle in my life.
Happy New Year!
If you’re like many who set New Year’s Resolutions, how’s it going so far? Setting goals and resolutions is the easy part. Keeping up with those goals and resolutions and taking daily action to keep it going is the challenge.
As you likely know, I’m a bit goal obsessed. Nothing better to motivate me than setting a goal, especially athletic goals! However, now that I’m living with an active case of breast cancer AND type 1 diabetes, and I’m taking a drug that snuffs out ALL estrogen in my body to starve the cancer, my energy is precious.
Precious energy must be spent wisely and with intention. My weekly and daily action step planning is noticing that I don’t have the energy to get as many things accomplished in a given day. Thus my choices on how I spend my precious energy must be wise and made with deliberation. I weigh my choices against my values, life purpose and obligations. I am very deliberate and intentional. More than I was before taking letrozole.
Word for 2024
My word for 2024 is Joyous Ease. Yes, I know that is technically two words, but heck, I like how they fit together. My word for 2023 was Actualize and actualize I did. Now I need to relax, heal and enjoy all that I actualized in 2024.
I like to set a few intentions with my word for the year. This year I have set three intentions. I added them to my vision board. My intentions came to me during the 12 Days of Solstice meditations I did. I asked my Angels and Spirit Guides to give me guidance.
To do and be with relaxed, calm energy and notice what brings me joy & happiness.
I will pay myself first.
I will record all spending.
I will have weekly finances check ins.
I will have monthly Money Dates.
I will make all financial decisions with intention and care.
I will launch my Speaking career with confidence.
2. Body wellness
I will commune with my Angels and the Gods & Goddesses on a daily basis.
I will exercise every day: running, lifting, biking, swimming, cross country skiing, walking.
I will eat healthy, yummy, mostly homemade food.
I will sleep 8 – 9 hours every night.
3. Spiritual connection
I am part of the whole.
I will keep opening my heart and allowing the right people to come into my life.
I will spend time with people who bring me joy.
When Eagle flew in front of me this morning, I knew it was Spirit speaking to me. When I got home, I looked up Eagle in the Medicine Cards book, written by Jamie Sams & David Carson
This is what spoke to me, “Eagle is reminding you to take heart and gather your courage, for the universe is presenting you with an opportunity to soar above the mundane levels of your life. The power of recognizing this opportunity may come in the form of a spiritual test. In being astute, you may recognize the places within your soul, personality, emotions, or psyche that need bolstering or refinement. By looking at the overall tapestry, Eagle teaches you to broaden your sense of self beyond the horizon of what is presently visible.”
I am open to broadening myself to the spiritual tests before me. That’s part of how I’m looking at this reduction of daily energy. Perhaps my soul and emotions need a bit of bolstering and refinement. I do love how much there is to learn every day!
I wish you a very happy New Moon in Capricorn! Today, for the first time in over a week, the sky cleared and the sun came out. That eagle was flying against a blue sky!
And remember, in case you haven’t yet bought my book, Extreme Healing, you can get it any day and be inspired to get active!
While you’re ordering the book, or writing a review, here’s a beautiful New Moon song for you!
