My Visit to Cancun, Mexico!!

Smiling was what I did all day, every day in Cancun!
Smiling was what I did all day, every day in Cancun!

Yesterday, when I woke up, there were clouds in the sky, the first dark clouds I had seen in five days! After eating breakfast, I headed out to swim in the ocean. As I stepped out of the resort doors, the raindrops started falling! They were light and not at all intimidating, so I continued down to the beach.

Very quickly I got down to my swimsuit and dove into the beautiful blue waves. When I surfaced, I was grinning ear to ear!! There’s nothing like a crystal clear ocean to make me smile!

I spent much of the past five days grinning! This trip was exactly what I needed to restore my spirits. There are many things I like about Minnesota, but just like when I was 23 and graduated from college and packed my bags and got in my car and happily drove to California for the sunshine, I keep asking myself if I can keep living in such an overcast state. It didn’t help that last winter, due to the Polar Vortex and perhaps due to Global Warming, was one of the longest, coldest, snowiest winters in many years.

This was the all inclusive resort where I stayed!

I needed to see the sunshine, a clear sky and swim in a warm ocean. Which is exactly what I got to do for five days. My perspective is renewed. Yes, it’s cloudy today here in Minnesota. And it’s cold. And I know I will survive.

I have a beautiful picture of the ocean on my computer, and a shot glass with palm trees engraved on it that is filled with sand from the beach in Cancun, Mexico! I did have a few glasses of wine, but no tequila!

I am deeply grateful to the woman who gifted this trip to me. It was perfect! And such a generous, delightful surprise. I am also thankful to Doug, Jill, John and my housemate Liz who took care of Echo, who also all played fabulous parts of making this trip a reality. This trip to Cancun reminded me how connected we all are. Even when we text and read email non-stop!

In another few days, I will write about my visit to Tulum, the ocean front city the Mayans built between 1200 and 1450 A.D.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hello! I appreciate all of the support and love!

On the way back to the resort after Tulum, we stopped to shop. I got a Dream Catcher from this family.
